ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.350 million Total Viewers, 520,000 Adults 25-54 and 418,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of Jan. 29, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” led CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (478,000 and 357,000, respectively) in Adults 25-54 (+42,000) and Adults 18-49 (+61,000).

“Nightline” turned in week-to-week gains (1.335 million, 511,000 and 381,000, respectively, for w/o 1/22/18) in all key target measures: Total Viewers (+1%), Adults 25-54 (+2%) and Adults 18-49 (+10%).

“Nightline” improved on the year-ago week (1/30/17) in Adults 25-54 (+2% – 520,000 vs. 512,000) and Adults 18-49 (+14% – 418,000 vs. 368,000).

“Nightline” cut its gaps from the previous week with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in all key target demos: Total Viewers (-57% – 49,000 vs. 113,000), Adults 25-54 (-20% – 66,000 vs. 82,000) and Adults 18-49 (-54% – 44,000 vs. 96,000).

“Nightline” narrowed its year-to-year margins with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in both Adults 25-54 (-32% – 66,000 vs. 97,000) and Adults 18-49 (-63% – 44,000 vs. 119,000). 

“Nightline” owned the No. 1 telecast of the week with its Tuesday airing (1/30/18) in Total Viewers (1.663 million), outdrawing every telecast of the week of CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” 

Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+11,000 – 527,000 vs. 516,000) and Adults 18-49 (+13,000 – 400,000 vs. 387,000).

Stories on “Nightline” last week included co-anchor Juju Chang’s extensive interview with Rose McGowan who described the alleged rape by Harvey Weinstein during Sundance in 1997; a visit to Chicago where Chance the Rapper surprised fifth graders to share technology and coding advice; a look at a Pennsylvania steel town as workers wait for President Trump’s promises to come true; an interview with Team USA skier Gus Kenworthy on what it’s like returning to the Winter Olympics as an openly gay athlete; and a look at kids who are catching the attention of football recruiters even before high school.
