ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (1.367 million) during the week of October 30, 2017, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.  Winning 5 of the first 6 weeks of the 2017-18 season, “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (1.323 million) by 44,000 and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” (1.366 million) by 1,000.

“Nightline” also defeated CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+41,000 – 510,000 vs. 469,000) and Adults 18-49 (+19,000 – 363,000 vs. 344,000).

“Nightline” improved on the previous week (1.238 million, 475,000 and 338,000, respectively, for w/o 10/23/17) in Total Viewers (+10%), Adults 25-54 (+7%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%).
   
“Nightline” cut its gaps from the previous week with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Adults 25-54 (-53% – 35,000 vs. 74,000) and Adults 18-49 (-3% – 86,000 vs. 89,000).
          
“Nightline” narrowed its year-to-year margins with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Adults 25-54 (-62% – 35,000 vs. 92,000) and Adults 18-49 (-36% – 86,000 vs. 135,000).

“Nightline” had the No. 1 telecast during the week in Total Viewers (1.681 million) with its Monday airing (10/30/17), outdrawing every telecast of the week of CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”  

Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Total Viewers (+70,000 – 1.473 million vs. 1.403 million), Adults 25-54 (+40,000 – 545,000 vs. 505,000) and Adults 18-49 (+21,000 – 403,000 vs. 382,000).

Stories on “Nightline” last week included an inside look at the lives of Harry, Nicole and Matt, three students at Rockdale Recovery High where the school’s main entrance requirement is the student must be an addict; an in-depth report on the Manhattan attack which left eight people dead after a man mowed down pedestrians and cyclists with a truck; a behind-the-scenes tour of “Wheel of Fortune” host Vanna White’s life as she opens up about her 35 years on the show, Pat Sajak and loving her job; and a sit-down with Justin Beiber’s pastor Carl Lentz about his new book “Own the Moment.”

NOTE:  On Wednesday (11/1/17), NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Late Night with Seth Meyers-SM.” The telecast is excluded from the season averages. NBC’s averages are based on 4 days (Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday).
