Disney Channels Worldwide

Disney Channels Worldwide is a global portfolio of over 100 kid-driven, family-inclusive entertainment channels and/or channel feeds available in 163 countries/territories, in 34 languages. The platform brands are Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Disney Cinemagic, Hungama, and Radio Disney. The group’s multiplatform strategy includes authenticated TV Everywhere services for mobile devices through WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney Junior, and WATCH Disney XD apps, as well as subscription video-on-demand, content-rich broadband websites DisneyXD.com, DisneyJunior.com, DisneyChannel.com and RadioDisney.com.

Disney Channel content is distributed through cable, satellite and digital terrestrial television channels and via a strategic partnership with Disney Media Distribution to third-party broadcasters across the globe. Disney Channel properties continue to rapidly expand into new markets across the world, playing a key role in introducing the Disney brand to over 600 million unduplicated viewers worldwide.

Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior programming is currently available via subscription video-on-demand on several U.S. cable television systems and mobile devices, and live, linear feeds are available via authenticated TV Everywhere products – WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and WATCH Disney Junior – at home or on-the-go and online at watchdisneychannel.comwatchdisneyxd.com and watchdisneyjunior.com.  Disney|ABC Television Group also streams full-length and short-form episodes of Disney Channel programming, free and on-demand through DisneyChannel.com. In addition, episodes of hit series and several Disney Channel Original Movies are available to U.S. consumers for purchase through Apple’s iTunes Music Store. Disney Channel HD, a high-definition simulcast of Disney Channel, is currently distributed by a number of multichannel operators, including Time Warner, Cox Communications and DirecTV.

Disney Channel

Geared towards kids ages 6-14 and their families, Disney Channel reaches more than 96 million U.S. homes.  Disney Channel original series include “Austin & Ally,” “Jessie,” “Dog With A Blog,” “Liv and Maddie” and “I Didn’t Do It,” which comprise the Top TV series among Kids 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14.  Disney Channel is also home to the Emmy Award-winning hit comedy “Phineas and Ferb,” TV’s #1 animated series among Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, “Gravity Falls” and “Wander Over Yonder,” each produced by Disney Television Animation. Disney Junior, a programming block for Kids age 2-7, airs daily on Disney Channel in addition to a 24-hour Disney Junior channel.  Its programs, including the hits “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” “Doc McStuffins” and Annie Award-winning “Sofia the First,” all blend Disney’s unparalleled storytelling and beloved characters with learning components, including early math and language skills, as well as healthy eating and lifestyles, with an emphasis on social and emotional development.

Disney XD

Disney XD is a basic cable channel and multi-platform brand showcasing a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for kids age 6-11, hyper-targeting boys (while still including girls) and transporting them into worlds full of humor, unexpected fun and inspiring action-filled adventures. Disney XD-branded content spans television, online, mobile and VOD platforms. The programming includes series, movies and short-form, as well as sports-themed programming developed with ESPN.  In the U.S., Disney XD is seen on a 24-hour, advertiser-supported network that reaches more than 80 million households via its basic cable and satellite affiliates. Worldwide, there are 30 Disney XD channels available in 25 languages, reaching over 240 million households in 142 countries/territories.

Disney XD programming includes the original series “Mighty Med,” “Kickin’ It” and “Lab Rats.”  Animated programming includes the successful “Star Wars Rebels”, which premiered in Fall, 2014, Emmy-winning comedy series “Phineas and Ferb,” “Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja,” as well as “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble,” “Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.” and “Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man,” which are all presented during the Marvel Universe programming block.

Disney Junior

Disney Junior is a global multiplatform brand expressly for kids age 2-7. Disney Junior invites mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, both classic and new, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for young children.

The daily Disney Junior programming block, a brand launched in February 2011, is available on Disney Channel in more than 98 million U.S. homes.   The 24-hour Disney Junior channel, launched in March 2012, has secured affiliate agreements that extend its reach to more than 73 million U.S. homes.  Disney Junior blocks and channels are available in 25 languages and 154 countries/territories in over 180 million households worldwide.  Disney Junior programming is also currently available via video-on-demand on several U.S. cable television systems and mobile devices, and live, linear feeds are available via the groundbreaking WATCH Disney Junior app, which has had millions of downloads, and online at watchdisneyjunior.com.

Disney Junior original series include the Emmy-nominated and Annie Award-winning “Sofia the First” and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” the Emmy-nominated “Doc McStuffins,” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Henry Hugglemonster” and “Sheriff Callie’s Wild West,” as well as the upcoming “Miles From Tomorrowland” and the first Disney Junior Original Movie “Lucky Duck.”  Original short-form series include “Minnie’s Bow-Toons,” which follows Minnie Mouse and her pal Daisy as they run Minnie’s Bow-Tique, a specialty shop stocked only with colorful bows and bowties; “The Doc Files,” an extension of the acclaimed “Doc McStuffins” series which offers young viewers a glimpse into Doc’s keen deductive skills as she shares an in-depth look at specific cases and diagnoses after the clinic doors close for the day; and “Nina NeedsTo Go,” which follows four year old Nina who often ‘needs to go’ at the most inopportune moments, and must use her initiative to overcome the obstacles between her and the nearest bathroom.

Radio Disney

Radio Disney, the only 24-hour radio network devoted to kids, tweens and families, is known for introducing new artists and playing the music of many of today’s most popular young artists, including Becky G, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes. It is widely recognized by the music industry as an influencer to drive music awareness and is among a select group of mainstream radio stations tracked by Billboard and Mediabase music panels. Radio Disney’s Top 40 playlist is driven by listener requests and represents major label recording artists, including One Direction, Katy Perry, 5 Seconds of Summer, Fifth Harmony and Demi Lovato. Billboard magazine has also twice cited Radio Disney in its “Maximum Exposure” list, which names the Top 100 ways to get music noticed.

Kids help pick the music that is played on Radio Disney and are encouraged to interact via a toll-free line to the Radio Disney studio. The network’s current playlist, driven by listener requests and representing major record labels, includes recording artists Selena Gomez & The Scene, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Willow Smith, Cody Simpson, Katy Perry, Taio Cruz and Allstar Weekend.

Radio Disney sets the industry standard for all-family content with signature programs such as “Top 30 Countdown” “Dot Com Top 3” and “N.B.T.” (Next BIG Thing), which provides opportunities for up and coming talent. Radio Disney’s podcasts allow listeners to get the inside scoop on some of their favorite celebrities.

Disney Television Animation (DTVA), an animation studio established in December 1984, is an industry leader in the creation of animated television product for preschoolers, kids and tweens.
