ABC’s ‘black-ish’ Season Finale Earns a 6-Week High in Viewers and Grows Year to Year

ABC’s ‘black-ish’ Finale Draws a 6-Week High in Viewers and Grows Year to Year

ABC Tuesday Prime Time (8:00-11:00 p.m. – 4.9 million and 1.2/5 in AD18-49):
ABC led Tuesday by double digits with Adults 18-49 (1.2/5), beating “The Voice”-led NBC by 20% (1.0/4), CBS with the “NCIS: New Orleans” season finale by 20% (1.0/4) and Fox with the “New Girl” series finale by 100% (0.6/2). Leading for the 8th week in a row, ABC is delivering its longest streak as Tuesday’s No. 1 broadcaster in 18 years – since a streak that ran from April–June of 2000. The Net improved over the year-ago Tuesday with an all-original lineup by 1.5 million viewers (4.9 million vs. 3.4 million) and by 33% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/5 vs. 0.9/4).

  • At 8:00 p.m., ABC’s “Roseanne” finished as Tuesday’s No. 1 TV show for its 7th consecutive original airing in Adults 18-49 (2.6/12). The ABC comedy grew in Total Viewers (+3% – 10.6 million vs. 10.3 million) to draw its biggest audience in 4 weeks – since 4/17/18.

 

  • At 8:30 p.m., ABC’s “The Middle” stood as the night’s No. 2 TV series in Adults 18-49 (1.4/6-tied w/”The Voice”). “The Middle” grew 8% in Total Viewers (6.3 million vs. 5.9 million) to a 5-week high – since 4/10/18.
  • At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s season finale of “black-ish” ranked No. 1 to beat its nearest competition in the half-hour by 20% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/5 vs. 1.0/4 – CBS’ “NCIS: NO” finale). ABC’s “black-ish” surged by 16% week to week in Total Viewers (5.0 million vs. 4.3 million) to generate a 6-week high– since 4/3/18. In addition, the ABC comedy built on its year-ago finale out of “Modern Family” on Wednesday in viewers (+4% – 4.8 million on 5/10/17).

 

  • At 9:30 p.m., ABC’s “Splitting Up Together” dominated Fox’s “New Girl” series finale, gained viewers week to week (3.6 million vs. 3.5 million) and held even with Adults 18-49 (1.0/4). Head-to-head in the half-hour, the new ABC comedy beat out Fox’s “New Girl” closer (1.5 million and 0.6/2) by 2.1 million viewers and by 67% in Adults 18-49.
  • In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “For The People” held even week to week in Total Viewers (2.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (0.5/2).
